Why Weight?

“Trying to lose weight alters your brain and hormones so you're doomed to pile it on again,” the Daily Mail reported.

Once again doom and gloom from this newspaper and although the story was accurately reported it does seem rather negative and doesn’t correctly reflect the findings from the study.

It was carried out in Australia by researchers from the University of Melbourne and La Trove University. The study was published in the peer-reviewed New England Journal of Medicine. They found that during weight-loss diets people experience changes in the levels of appetite hormones. The researchers did say that it’s not yet known whether these changes are sustained when people try to maintain their new lower weight.

The story does have some benefits, as it’s been common knowledge for some time that people do put weight back on after traditional diets. That’s why it’s called yo-yo dieting. I do see people who want to lose weight but it’s done through simple changes to eating patterns and changes to include healthy but tasty foods, so it’s not a diet it’s change in lifestyle and a change for life too.
